PLIVA d.o.o. - The largest and most complex fire detection system in Croatia

With over 90 year of successful business in pharmaceutical industry, PLIVA is currently member of TEVA Group, one of the most successful pharmaceutical companies in the world. As part of their sustainable growth strategy, PLIVA is dedicated to providing high quality, affordable medicines for a better quality of life. When they started thinking about implementing security systems, Pliva had very clear needs: it was necessary to secure safe working environment for their employees, avoid interference in production process,  protect Pliva’s assets and to protect the environment, since Pliva’s production facilities are located in the close center of several Croatian towns, including the capital, Zagreb. Therefore, the requirements of Pliva’s engineering and environment protection professionals was to plan and implement security (video surveillance) and safety (fire detection, gas detection and automatic fire extinction) systems based on reliable and professional equipment certified for industry requirements. Important requirement for these systems was to correlate with production technology and other safety systems.

After mutual analysis of the risks and requirements and our solution proposal, Pliva has recognised in Tehnomobil reliable partner. This resulted in a start of long term successful collaboration, which has produced many outstanding results: 

Interactive fire detection system with more than 7000 fire detectors integrated over couple of dozen control elements to the central monitoring and control system of Pliva’s fire brigades

System is configured to deliver micro location of every fire detector and the shortest path to fire detector in alarm, and therefore provides optimal security for employees and environment minimising the risk of material damage. Another Pliva’s requirement is fulfilled as well: system is integrated with production technology and other safety systems. By choosing professional fire detection technology and Tehnomobil as a partner, Pliva now manages a reliable system with decreased numbers of false or technical alarms, which has immediate effect on reduction of unnecessary delays in production processes and therefore decrease of unnecessary costs.

Video surveillance systems – as a help in prevention of accidents and a tool for detection, protecting facilities, employees and production processes

Implemented system is flexible and modular. They are based on digital recording technology on uniform platform which allows system monitoring from many distributed locations. System integrates analogue and digital surveillance technology, depending on time it was installed, into o single system, completely protecting Pliva's investments

Gas detection in explosive environment.

In production facilities such as Pliva’s, risk is extremely high if leakage of poisonous or explosive gases in undetected timely, as possible outcomes could be explosion or people poisoning. Implemented system has exquisite performance in features most important for gas detection systems: reliability and measurement precision. System quality was proven when increase of nitrogen in production processes was timely detected resulting in saving on human life.

Automatic fire extinction system

In laboratories and production facilities, every minute of delay in the intervention when it comes to fire detection can have catastrophic consequences. Therefore there was no question that fire detection system in Pliva must be extended and integrated with fire extinguishing system, but with high reliability. High-pressure gas extinguishing system is based on FM200 gas, which efficiently extinguishes fire in industry environment, solving most of detected fire incidents within 20 seconds from activation.

With our knowledge and experience and proven technology, we have managed to implement complex but flexible security and safety systems, easily used by Pliva’s professionals. PLIVA has paid high attention to regular and proper system maintenance increasing significantly life- time of the equipment and reducing the total cost of ownership.
